LEANING CAUTIOUS, NOT CONVINCED (55% Downside)

MARKET SNAPSHOT

S&P 500 (SPY): $754.35 (+0.30% daily, -2.33% weekly) NASDAQ (QQQ): $685.28 (+0.62%) VIX: 20.83 10-Yr Yield: 4.95% Gold (GLD): $359.26 Fear & Greed Index: 22.0 (Extreme Fear)

THE SETUP

ES is up 1.1% and NQ is up 0.4% from Tuesday’s close, giving Wednesday’s pre-open tape a positive bias despite weak underlying momentum. The November 4 Three-Axis read is MARKET VALUE INTACT — TEMPORARY DIPS, alongside DRAWDOWN RISK SEVERE · P* 71%; P* is the calibrated probability of a 5% or greater SPY decline within 10 sessions, not a forecast. Tuesday’s session left SPY at $754.35, only one cent above the $754.34 invalidation level, while the SPY and QQQ gauges remained Strong Bearish at 36.1 and 20.0. ISM services is ahead at 10:00 ET with no print captured yet, followed by Friday’s Employment Situation report and the November 10 CPI release.

BULLISH TAILWINDS (45% Probability)

- ES is up 1.1% and NQ is up 0.4% since Tuesday’s close, indicating demand ahead of Wednesday’s cash open. - SPY closed at $754.35 and remains marginally above the desk’s $754.34 invalidation level, preserving the temporary-dips interpretation for now. - Of the 125 assets classified by AB-AI, 68 were Bullish or Strong Bullish, representing 54.4% of the monitored universe. - Upcoming-quarter S&P 500 earnings are expected to rise 19.7% from a year earlier, with 75% of companies growing and 10 of 12 bellwethers higher, although the near-term hazard requires smaller sizing.

BEARISH FAULT LINES (55% Probability)

- SPY finished only $0.01 above $754.34, so even a modest cash-session decline could invalidate the desk’s current support condition. - The SPY Gauge stands at 36.1 and the QQQ Gauge at 20.0, placing both large-cap benchmarks in Strong Bearish momentum territory. - VIX closed at 20.83 while Fear & Greed registered 22.0, and the absence of strong or moderate setups shows that fear has not yet produced broad technical confirmation. - The SHC observer remains in EARLY DRAWDOWN with D at 63 and S at 50, leaving the two forces converging toward the drawdown event with 10 points of remaining distance as NFP and CPI approach.

TACTICAL POSITIONING

The AB Portfolio’s Defensive Sleeve Governor remains DEFENSIVE because the structural cycle is in Phase 3 and the hazard rung is severe. Its regime budget is therefore 50% growth, 20% WEEK, 10% income split evenly between XDTE and SOXY, and 20 % defensive; any protection allocation that does not pass the required momentum and correlation tests remains in WEEK or follows the governed defensive-fill process.

The desk reads dips as shallow and temporary while SPY holds 744.34: a read, not a forecast. Exposure is built gradually and never chased, while the model book uses smaller position sizes and waits for confirmation through the heavy event window.

The model book does not initiate leveraged exposure into Friday’s NFP or Tuesday’s CPI session. Until SHC reaches a drawdown touch, hedge preference remains linear rather than long-volatility based, with inverse exposure constrained by the portfolio’s existing limits.

KEY MONITORING METRICS

- S&P 500: $744.34 is the validated support level and $754.35 is the immediate prior-close resistance reference; a close below support would invalidate the temporary-dips condition, while sustained trade above resistance would confirm the pre-open rebound. - VIX: 20.83 is the validated reference rather than an invented floor or ceiling; a move below Wednesday’s session low would indicate easing demand for protection, while a move above the session high would show renewed volatility pressure. - The 10-year Treasury yield: 4.95% is the current reference level, with a sustained move above Wednesday’s yield high likely to pressure long-duration growth shares. - NASDAQ 100: $685.28 is QQQ’s prior-close pivot, and failure to hold that level after a positive futures open would expose weak follow-through beneath the headline advance.

EARNINGS WATCH

- Before Wednesday’s open, McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) reports against consensus EPS of 3.36, Uber Technologies (UBER) against 0.94, and Datadog (DDOG) against 0.18; the desk is watching MCD’s consumer-demand and margin commentary most closely. - After Wednesday’s close, Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) reports against consensus EPS of 1.46; the desk is watching its handset outlook and AI-device demand. - Before Thursday’s open, ConocoPhillips (COP) reports against consensus EPS of 2.97, Sony Group (SONY) against 0.38, Southern Company (SO) against 1.71, Duke Energy (DUK) against 1.87, and Cigna (CI) against 7.46; the desk is watching SONY’s outlook because it is an AB Portfolio name.

CONTRARIAN FRAMEWORK VERDICT

Extreme fear, positive futures and resilient earnings expectations create rebound potential, but weak index gauges, minimal distance from invalidation and a heavy event calendar prevent an aggressive stance. The model-book action is to preserve defensive composition, maintain smaller initial sizing and require confirmation rather than chase the pre-open advance.
