STRONG MOMENTUM - RISK ON

MARKET SNAPSHOT

S&P 500 (SPY): $773.93 (-0.42% daily, +0.56% weekly) NASDAQ (QQQ): $747.58 (-1.34%) VIX: 15.41 10-Yr Yield: 5.23% Gold (GLD): $378.62 Fear & Greed Index: 38.1 (Fear)

THE SETUP

ES is up 0.2% and NQ is up 0.6% from Thursday’s close, giving technology a firmer pre-open tone after QQQ’s 1.34% decline in the completed session. SPY finished Thursday at $773.93, leaving the round $774 area as the immediate pivot while its 0.56% weekly gain preserves positive near-term momentum. Participation remains uneven because the large-cap gauges are neutral, whereas the IWM gauge is strongly bearish at 38.3 and 52 tracked assets remain in bearish territory. The authoritative Three-Axis read remains MARKET VALUE INTACT — TEMPORARY DIPS, qualified by DRAWDOWN RISK MODERATELY ELEVATED · P* 22%, ahead of the preliminary University of Michigan sentiment release at 10:00 ET.

BULLISH TAILWINDS (80% Probability)

• Pre-open futures are positive, with ES up 0.2% and NQ up 0.6% from Thursday’s close, indicating an initial attempt to reverse the prior session’s technology-led weakness. • SPY enters Friday near the $774 pivot and remains 0.56% higher for the week, so sustained trade above that area would reinforce the short-term recovery structure. • The yield curve is positive by 1.19%, while the Fear & Greed Index stands at 38.1, a combination that provides a contrarian tailwind without eliminating event risk. • Upcoming-quarter S&P 500 earnings are expected to rise 18.9% from a year earlier, with 75% of constituents projected to post growth and consensus estimates down only 0.2 percentage points over the past 30 days.

BEARISH FAULT LINES (20% Probability)

• The upper edge of the mapped correction band is near $735 for SPY, and movement toward that level would mark a material deterioration from Thursday’s $773.93 close. • Fifty-two of 98 tracked assets, or approximately 53%, are bearish, and an expansion beyond 60% would indicate that weakness is spreading beyond the current rotation. • QQQ closed at $747.58 after falling 1.34%, so failure to recover that closing pivot during Friday’s session would keep technology momentum vulnerable despite stronger NQ futures. • Preliminary consumer sentiment at 10:00 ET can move yields during Friday’s session, while CPI on Wednesday, October 14 remains the principal trigger within the elevated event window.

TACTICAL POSITIONING

The structurally defensive, tactically resilient split keeps the AB Portfolio v2 framework in its DEFENSIVE four-sleeve configuration: 50% growth, 20% WEEK, 10% income and 20 % defensive. The income budget is divided equally between XDTE and SOXY, while defensive weight is reserved for assets that satisfy the required momentum, relative-strength and correlation tests; any unconfirmed defensive lines allocation rests in WEEK.

The model book uses smaller initial position sizes ahead of tier-one releases and does not initiate leveraged exposure into CPI days. Exposure is built gradually rather than chased, concentration remains constrained by the sleeve structure, and linear protection is favored unless the SHC observer reaches a qualifying touch. The two SHC forces are drifting from the drawdown event and remain 95 points from the required touch, so the observer does not alter the hazard reading or the desk verdict.

KEY MONITORING METRICS

• S&P 500: $735 is the nearest permitted correction-band support reference and $774 is the immediate resistance pivot; a sustained break below support would weaken the temporary-dips thesis, while acceptance above resistance would improve recovery momentum. • VIX: 15 is the near-term floor and 16 is the near-term ceiling; movement below the floor would indicate calmer hedging demand, while a sustained move above the ceiling would signal rising event sensitivity. • NASDAQ: $747.58 is the key closing pivot, with sustained trade above it supporting technology stabilization and continued trade below it confirming weaker relative momentum. • The 10-year Treasury yield: 5.23% is the immediate reference level, with further upward pressure likely to challenge long-duration growth shares and easing below it likely to reduce that valuation headwind.

CONTRARIAN FRAMEWORK VERDICT

Fearful sentiment, positive futures and firm earnings expectations support a resilient reversal framework, but weak breadth and the approaching CPI release prevent an aggressive risk posture. The model-book recommendation is to retain the defensive four-sleeve mix, keep new risk smaller around scheduled releases and treat weakness as temporary while the Level-Map invalidation holds and the hazard continues to ease.
