BULLISH BIAS (65% Probability)

MARKET SNAPSHOT

S&P 500 (SPY): $767.18 (-0.08% daily, -0.08% weekly) NASDAQ (QQQ): $741.10 (-0.01%) VIX: 15.67 10-Yr Yield: 5.16% Gold (GLD): $391.69 Fear & Greed Index: 36 (Fear)

THE SETUP

ES is up 0.3% and NQ is up 0.5% from Thursday’s close, pointing to a firmer opening after the major ETFs finished the previous session nearly unchanged. Thursday’s action reflected narrow leadership: the QQQ gauge remained bullish at 69.2, while the SPY gauge was neutral at 52.0 and the IWM gauge was strongly bearish at 35.0. The TRH verdict remains MARKET VALUE INTACT — TEMPORARY DIPS, with P* at 37% and the desk rung HIGH (held) · P* in the ELEVATED band. The green pre-open tape therefore favors a rebound attempt rather than a confirmed regime change, particularly with the volatility backdrop orderly but institutional inverse-hedge positioning building beneath the surface.

BULLISH TAILWINDS (65% Probability)

• ES has advanced 0.3% and NQ has gained 0.5% since Thursday’s close, giving growth shares the stronger pre-open momentum profile. • SPY closed at $767.18 within the established $757-to-$768 support and pivot cluster, leaving the index near an area from which reversals can be sustained if the cluster holds. • The asset dashboard contains 33 strong-bullish and 18 bullish readings, compared with 33 bearish readings, while the QQQ gauge stands at a bullish 69.2. • Upcoming-quarter S&P 500 earnings expectations are 19.9% above the year-ago period, with 75% of companies expected to grow and consensus estimates rising 0.5 percentage points over the past 30 days.

BEARISH FAULT LINES (35% Probability)

• A sustained SPY break below the $756.59 Level-Map invalidation would weaken the temporary-dips thesis and indicate that the nearby support cluster has failed. • The event window is heavy through October 7, with Personal Income and Outlays, including PCE, ahead on September 30 and the Employment Situation report ahead on October 2. • Market participation remains uneven because the IWM gauge is strongly bearish at 35.0 even as the QQQ gauge holds at 69.2, indicating that leadership is concentrated rather than broad. • Institutional inverse-hedge positioning is building ahead of the macro releases, and the absence of a confirmed headline catalyst suggests that flow mechanics could amplify volatility if support gives way.

TACTICAL POSITIONING

The structural cycle remains in Phase 3, so both illustrative model books retain defensive composition even though the tactical TRH read expects dips to be temporary while the Level-Map invalidation holds. The model books emphasize lower-beta exposure, cash or Treasury-bill reserves, and established hedges, while new positions are represented in smaller-than-normal sizing until the next tier-1 release or until the hazard ladder eases to MODERATELY ELEVATED or lower.

The pre-open strength leaves room for existing growth leadership to extend, particularly among large-cap technology and semiconductor names, but the model books do not chase an opening gap. Leveraged exposure is not initiated into the October 2 NFP session, and the desk waits for confirmation from breadth, small-cap participation and sustained SPY support before allowing a higher beta budget.

KEY MONITORING METRICS

• S&P 500: $756.59 is the governing support level and $768.00 is the immediate pivot and resistance threshold; a break below support would invalidate the current tactical thesis, while sustained trade above resistance would strengthen the rebound attempt. • VIX: 14.89 is the lower monitoring boundary and 16.45 is the upper monitoring boundary around the 15.67 close; movement below the floor would indicate further volatility compression, while movement above the ceiling would show that hedging demand is accelerating. • NASDAQ: $741.10, Thursday’s QQQ close, is the immediate momentum reference; sustained trade above it would preserve technology leadership, while failure to hold it would weaken the pre-open advance. • 10-Year Treasury yield: 5.16% is the current pressure point; further upside would raise the valuation hurdle for growth shares, while stabilization below that reading would reduce a key source of duration pressure.

CONTRARIAN FRAMEWORK VERDICT

Fear & Greed at 36 and firm index futures create conditions for a contrarian rebound, but weak small-cap participation, elevated event risk and defensive positioning argue against treating the move as broad confirmation. The illustrative model books remain defensively composed, use smaller sizing for new positions and wait for support and breadth confirmation rather than pursuing the pre-open strength.
