BULLISH BIAS (66% Probability)

MARKET SNAPSHOT

S&P 500 (SPY): $754.05 (-0.44% daily, -0.44% weekly) NASDAQ (QQQ): $704.72 (+0.03%) VIX: 17.71 10-Yr Yield: 5.01% Gold (GLD): $391.74 Fear & Greed Index: 26.1 (Fear)

THE SETUP

ES is up 1.2% and NQ is up 1.6% from Wednesday’s close, putting a forceful rebound into view before Thursday’s opening bell. The move follows a mixed session in which SPY declined 0.44% to $754.05 while QQQ edged 0.03% higher to $704.72, signaling continued concentration in large-cap technology. Momentum remains fragile beneath the surface, with bearish gauges across SPY, QQQ and IWM and 43 of 91 tracked assets classified as bearish. The market is structurally defensive but tactically resilient, with the pre-open recovery retaining room to extend if SPY preserves the nearby $748–$750 support area.

BULLISH TAILWINDS (66% Probability)

• ES has advanced 1.2% and NQ has gained 1.6% since Wednesday’s close, indicating a decisive improvement in pre-open risk appetite.

• SPY closed at $754.05 and remains above the $748–$750 support cluster formed by the May 14 swing high and the round-number threshold.

• The Fear & Greed Index stands at 26.1, creating a contrarian backdrop consistent with the calculated 66% bullish probability despite weak internals.

• Upcoming-quarter S&P 500 earnings are expected to rise 14.1% year over year, with 80% of companies projected to grow and consensus estimates down only 0.2 percentage points over the past 30 days.

BEARISH FAULT LINES (34% Probability)

• The TRH verdict is MARKET VALUE INTACT — TEMPORARY DIPS, but the adjusted 10-session drawdown hazard is P* 47% HIGH, preserving a meaningful risk of renewed pressure.

• SPY’s key invalidation level is $747.62, and a sustained break would expose the market to a deeper retracement whose correction band reaches its upper boundary near $716.

• The SPY gauge is bearish at 42.6, the QQQ gauge is bearish at 44.5 and the IWM gauge is strongly bearish at 33.1, while the SHC forces are converging toward the drawdown event with 20 points remaining and readings of S 60 and D 61.

• The 10-year Treasury yield at 5.01%, the elevated 10-session event window and the still-pending 8:30 ET initial jobless claims release could challenge the pre-open rebound if rates or growth concerns intensify.

TACTICAL POSITIONING

The preferred portfolio configuration remains defensive despite the strong futures indication. A representative allocation is 45% equities, 30% Treasury bills or cash equivalents, 15% short-to-intermediate high-quality bonds and 10% gold, with the equity sleeve tilted toward profitable companies, stable earnings and lower balance-sheet risk. The structural cycle remains in Phase 3, so portfolio composition carries less beta than the 66% tactical upside probability alone would imply.

Within equities, a measured mix could comprise roughly 60% defensive or quality leadership, 25% broad-market exposure and 15% higher-beta growth exposure. New positions remain smaller during the elevated event window, and leveraged exposure is not initiated into FOMC, CPI or payroll-report sessions. Position-level risk budgets are best kept below normal until breadth improves beyond the current 43 bearish assets.

Dips are expected to be temporary and reversals can be sustained while SPY holds $747.62 and until the next tier-1 release or a move back to a moderately elevated or lower event-window or hazard rung. A close below that threshold would place the market in the type of regime where gross equity exposure is typically reduced, while stabilization above $750 followed by acceptance over $760 would support a gradual normalization of beta.

KEY MONITORING METRICS

• S&P 500: The $748–$750 area is immediate support and $760 is initial resistance, with a break below support weakening the rebound and a close above resistance improving near-term momentum.

• VIX: The 17.0 area is the near-term floor and 18.5 is the ceiling, with a move below the range signaling calmer conditions and a move above it indicating that hedging demand is accelerating.

• NASDAQ 100: QQQ support is near $700 and resistance is near $712, with a breach of $700 undermining technology leadership and a move above $712 confirming broader participation in the rebound.

• 10-Year Treasury yield: The key range is 4.90% to 5.10%, with a decline below 4.90% easing valuation pressure and a move above 5.10% presenting a stronger headwind for growth equities.

CONTRARIAN FRAMEWORK VERDICT

Fear at 26.1 and sharply positive futures favor a rebound, but weak breadth and the elevated drawdown hazard argue against treating the pre-open move as a full regime reversal. The actionable configuration is a defensive core with below-normal beta, smaller new-position sizing and conditional participation while SPY remains above $747.62; confirmation would strengthen through $760, whereas a close below the invalidation level would justify a more conservative allocation profile.
